Happy 9th Birthday Max!

Max turned 9 last Thursday - a day off of school (Mahloud) for the kids, so he had lots of time to play with his new toys! He celebrated with brownies and soccer cookies in class on Friday and then a soccer birthday party over the weekend. He's also been learning to ride his new skateboard - and I'm not sure who's having more fun with it - Max or his dad! Over the weekend, Lucy also got in some badminton practice while Charlie tried some new stunts on his bike. Life is good!

We had an incredible vacation in December when my parents came to visit. Between camel rides in the sand dunes of Lompoul ...

and animal sightings at Bandia Reserve ...

and memorable boat rides and incredible bird sightings at both Langue de Barbarie and Djoudj Park (outside Saint-Louis) ...

with lots of sightseeing, eating and playing in and around Dakar ...

... it was a terrific vacation!

Oops ... Been awhile since I posted

We've quickly felt at home in Dakar and it's been a pleasure to watch the kids growing up and becoming more independent every day. Below are pictures from the last few months, including thanksgiving (I cooked a turkey!), Lucy's fashionable style for school (the 80s are making a comeback, right?), Charlie getting a math award, and of course their winter concerts (as you can imagine, Max took it a bit more seriously than Charlie). I even found a picture with me in it - taken when Lucy and I went on a trip to Joal/Fadiouth while the boys were in school.
